Who we are

Established in 1958, Rainey & Best offers professional consultancy services in Quantity Surveying, Contractor Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management, Construction Project Management, FF&E Project Management and Construction Contract Consultancy. We are based in the UK and Ireland but offer our services internationally and have worked on projects in numerous countries across three continents.

We strive to make a difference on every project that we are involved in, working closely with our Clients and their Consultant teams to ensure projects are developed and delivered in a value driven manner.

The Practice has amassed extensive experience in the successful delivery of projects in both the Public and Private Sectors including Hotels, Leisure, Offices, Retail, Commercial, Industrial, Health, Pharma, Education, Residential, Conservation, Civil Engineering and Public Realm works. We have particular skill and expertise in high end commercial and residential projects.

Mark Allen

Director

BSc MRICS

Mark is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager with over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. He has attained considerable experience across all sectors of the construction industry in that time. Mark has a very hands on approach and is extremely dedicated to ensuring that projects he is involved with are delivered on time, to budget and at a high level of quality. One of Marks key skills is his ability to project manage extremely complex projects within very challenging programme and budget constraints. Mark is someone who likes to work closely with his Clients to ensure that the projects they aspire to are delivered

Edwin McCullagh

Director

BSc MRICS

Edwin has over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry and is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor. Throughout his career Edwin has worked on a massive range of projects spanning across all sectors of the industry. Edwin has an extremely strong commercial awareness of construction and is driven to ensure that his Clients are always getting maximum value for money. A pertinent skill of Edwin’s is his expertise in cost planning and estimating. Edwin has an excellent track record in setting extremely accurate budgets for projects and uses this information to ensure that his Clients are financially aware of what the realistic investment will be in a project from an early stage.

Jack Hardy

Director

Jack is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 10 years’ experience in the construction industry. He has provided Quantity Surveying services on projects of varying complexities, across the complete spectrum of sectors. Jack is proactive in the value management of projects and operates with the objective of always ensuring the budget is expended in order to maximise the value attained by the Client. Jack is skilled in the management of the construction cost process as a whole and has particular skill and experience in the cost management of luxury / super prime residential projects. Jack also has a proven track record in the delivery of detailed Bills of Quantities and Pricing Documents across all project sectors.

Alice McClure

Head of FF&E Project Management

BSc

Alice is the head of the FF&E Project Management team at Rainey & Best. She has extensive experience in managing the FF&E design, procurement and installation process on challenging projects which require bespoke FF&E to the highest standards delivered within an exact programme. Alice has a proven track record of providing accurate FF&E budgets and managing to the FF&E process to ensure that the budgetary limits are maintained. She always works to ensure that value for money is at the heart of the FF&E process to ensure that the Client is getting the best deal possible.
